The Holy Name
By Cheryl
Glover, New Thought Kabbalah
In Judaism and in Kabbalah 'God' is merely called The Name or
Ha Shem. The reason is not to lessen the concept of God, but to
understand the power of the Holy Name. It is a mystery exactly
what God's Name is. Why is this important? In Kabbalistic
principles we understand that words, names, letters contain the
spark of divine energy that creates our world. Encoded in every
letter is the substance and essence of Creation. When we think
negative thoughts, our world is impacted by these negative
thoughts. When we think positive thoughts, our world is impacted
by these.
In the beginning there was the word. In Kabbalah the essence
of creation lies in the encoding of the Hebrew letters: the 22
letters that God used to create the world. In these letters lies
the code:
-
of our DNA
-
of our Soul's essence
-
of our connection to Adam (unity of ONE Soul)
-
to the source of creation
-
to our connection to HaShem
-
to the Holy of Holies
-
to the four worlds of the Tree of Life
Once we understand the power of the letters, we can take the
jump to understand the power of the Holy Name. There are
many forms of this: the tetragram of yud, Hei, Vav, Hei; Elohim,
El Shaddai, Adonai, the 42
Names of God: the Ana Bekoach
prayer, the 72 Names of God (code in the first 3 paragraphs of
Genesis), the Sh'ma (statement of Faith: loving God), and
various other Names that are placed on plaques, jewelry,
amulets, etc.
Once we understand this, we can understand the power of
putting the Holy Name on jewelry and amulets. A word of caution:
amulets and jewelry should be used to CONNECT, not to
manipulate. To use the Holy Name for personal gain would not be
"Kosher." On the other hand, connecting through the Hebrew
letters to the Creator, brings us closer to our heritage from
God. We become more Holy, more righteous, and more wise. The
idea is to connect to the Holy Names so that we can improve
ourselves, be more conscious, more aware, and make better
decisions. When we connect in this way by connecting to the Holy
Name, we change our lives and the lives of those around us. We
raise ourselves to a higher level on the Tree of Life, by
keeping ourselves connected to God. In order to be connected we
need to be more positive, think Holy thoughts, perform Holy
actions like mitzvahs (charity, good deeds.)
Since we are human, we sometimes need tools to stay positive,
stay enlightened, stay connected. The Holy Name is a tool.
Meditate on it, hold it, love it and become it. May it lead you
to the Light and create a wonderful new year of Hashem, charity,
prosperity, joy and peace.
Happy holidays to you all, and Shabbat Shalom,
Blessings and Light |
